
The construction industry has a very bad reputation for being the cause of deaths, injuries and illness. The Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2007 was brought in to Law to try to address the safety related problems in not only identifying problems but to give all members of the project team, client, designer, contractor and all those employed on the project an awareness of the risks and how to identify and avoid or reduce such risks.
You, the client have a legal responsibility for Health and Safety on your project. To this end, we always issue a copy of the HSE's guidance leaflet to prospective clients. This is an excellent introduction to CDM and your responsibility to Health and Safety, giving you a starting point as to what you need to do.
